ABOUT THE ARTIST
Cara Markovich was born in San Francisco, California and raised in Petaluma where she resides with her husband and three children.
She received a bachelor’s degree in painting and drawing at the University of California at Santa Cruz after studying art at the Santa Rosa Junior College. She worked as a photographer for years while juggling several jobs to make ends meet. Throughout that time she painted as a muralist before becoming an elementary school art teacher. After working with children for over a decade she decided to follow her passion and become a full time painter.
I've always been an artist but never believed I could be just that. Over the years I have worked extremely hard doing countless jobs always dreaming of the day I would just create. Via a vision quest I was able to make my dream a reality.
I am obsessed with this building...since I was a child I've been drawn to it. Although I paint and photograph many subjects I always return to the Dairymen's mill. Markovich
”Don't bend; don't water it down; don't try to make it logical; don't edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.“
Franz Kafka
